Signs to Look For
How do you know if your child needs help?
Take this test to tell- I have attached the link – add test
What if you keep ignoring the problem?
Who is to say what the real outcome is of ignoring the problem. Ultimately, each child will have a different path that they choose and if the problem is not addressed it could lead to juvenile hall, poor academic performance, lack of motivation, or family discord. If other siblings are at home, they will pick up on the behaviors and use them to get attention like there other brother or sister has done. By the time you have come to this option, you are already emotionally and physically exhausted. Having your home and family in discord can truly make you feel like every day is a war zone.
Will your child resist getting help?
At first your child will probably resist it. There are parts of treatment that force your teen to look at who they really are and the decisions they have made that have led them to this point. The biggest challenges to overcome are denial and entitlement. At the point of placement, most kids are at a place where they do not recognize themselves nor the road they are headed down. The first thirty to sixty days is vitally important to the program and is the point at which a lot of these realizations come into play.
